Food Waste Reduction at Source

PARKnSHOP is committed to promoting green culture throughout the business, working hard to minimize waste.

At stores, electric kitchens have been introduced to help lower the kitchen temperature and at the same time reduce overall energy usage. We also installed Smart Meters to conduct real-time energy monitoring. Other energy-reduction initiatives include the installation of night blinds on refrigerators and LED lights in stores to reduce electricity consumption.

In addition, PARKnSHOP signed up to the Charter on External Lighting organized by the Environmental Protection Department in 2016, around 130 stores pledged to switch off lighting installations with decorative, promotional or advertising purposes which affect the outdoor environment from 11pm to 7am to mitigate the problems of light nuisance and energy wastage caused by external lighting.

In recognition of our energy-saving achievements, PARKnSHOP was awarded the Gold Award in Retail Chain Store (1st Group) and Joint Participation Award in CLP's GreenPLUS Recognition Award Programme 2014.
